Local Lore
Stories passed through neighborhoods, families, and generations are part of the Minnesota Valley’s living record. We collect them separately from client cases, with care for the people and places that keep them alive.
Why it matters
Lore deserves a place in the record.
Local lore can preserve details that formal histories leave behind: remembered encounters, old warnings, familiar landmarks, and the ways a community has made sense of the unexplained.
We treat these accounts as cultural context rather than client-case evidence. Some may warrant additional research or a future investigation, but our first priority is responding to personal cases and logging scientific data gathered from those investigations.
Much like ghosts, local lore belongs to the past while still having something important to say about the present. Recording it respectfully helps keep that connection visible.

When a lore account offers a clear, researchable lead, it may be considered for additional study using the same measured approach as any investigation.
